Who We Are... Storm Team Live is a nationwide network of Storm Trackers trained by the National Weather Service. Membership standards require STL Trackers to obtain annual NWS spotter training.
What We Do... Storm Team Live Trackers mobilize on days that severe weather is anticipated, forwarding the latest breaking severe weather information to the National Weather Service and the Severe Weather Center. The information is then disseminated to various media outlets and social media.
How We Do It... In an effort to foster safety, STL Trackers employ the latest technology while in the field. Wireless data equipment allow our Trackers to obtain the most current NEXRAD Level II and Dual Polarization radar data. This high resolution radar data allow our chase teams to interrogate severe storms in real-time and identify features that might aid in providing earlier warning to those in the danger path. Other equipment installed on our chase vehicles improve visibility during adverse weather conditions, increasing safety for other motorists and our team members during critical operations.
Why We Do It... Storm Team Live has partnered with the Severe Weather Center to report severe weather conditions and information in an effort to aid individuals in making more informed decisions and perhaps save lives.
